Where in the world do I begin? I've been gone for almost a MONTH! So uncool, I know. I'll make this very short, probably not so sweet, and to the point. Get you all caught up, give you all my excuses for ignoring you and then kiss kiss ... all is forgiven, right?
Family came for Christmas. There are already six of us in this house and we were adding six more for a few days. It was nice, kids played, adults ate and drank too much ... typical Christmas.
Christmas Eve, Princess started running a fever, took a nap on Daddy's lap and woke up cross-eyed. Very concerned, but decided to give it a little time, maybe it had something to do with the fever and all. Mental note: Keep a close eye on her ... how could I forget, it creeped me out every time she looked at me.
Christmas morning, a phone call came in, AnIowaDad's Grandfather (PaPa) had passed on. Tried not to let our moods affect the magic and excitement of Christmas morning, but it wasn't very merry ... we were very sad, to say the least.
Was anyone else all mixed up all day on Christmas thinking it was Sunday, not Monday? I was. Visitation and funeral arrangements had been made for Wednesday, no problem I thought, a couple days to get everything organized, bought and packed ... not even an issue. DUH! We needed to travel 10 hours make it to the visitation by 11am on WEDNESDAY. When I realized this, I panicked, it was Christmas and I have six extra people in my house from out of town ... but there was no question, we had to go.
Tuesday my brother and his family left, the afternoon was spent shopping for appropriate clothing, and settling in my parents, who were going to stay here and dog sit for us, packing and napping as we got up at 12:30 am on Wednesday and drove straight through to Southern Indiana to make the family visitation on time. Kids thought it was great, getting up in the middle of the night and leaving in their PJ's. I'm glad they could look at it as an adventure ... AnIowaDad and I were still very sad.
On our return trip late Thursday, AnIowaDad managed to lose his wallet ... just add to the nightmare ... no problem ... I'll wake up tomorrow, eh? What a pain in the ass that is these days ... especially when you are 10 hours from home and weren't smart enough to split up all the cash we had for the trip. Morons, yes, I know we are!
Returned home late Thursday ... really started to focus in on Princess and her eyes ... they were still cross-eyed and she was no longer sick. Took her to the doctor and he was baffled. Gave me two reasons as to why she is now suddenly cross-eyed, neither of which I'd like to talk about right now, and we have an appointment with a different doctor on Wednesday the 17th. I'll update you all then as to what they say.
This past weekend, my parents returned home to Montana and I've spent the past few days getting the house back in order, laundry caught up and putting our lives back on schedule (for the most part).
That's it ... in a nutshell ...
Forgive me?
