Emily awoke this morning and drug herself to the kitchen, where I was sitting catching up on some email.
"Can I have a cookie?" she asks, sweetly ... almost TOO sweet!
"There are no cookies for breakfast!" I reply, matter of factly.
"Please!" she pleads, managing to bat her eyelashes. I need to teach her that batting eyelashes only works on her father.
"No."
"Can I have candy?" she tries.
"There is no candy for breakfast!" I stay strong. I refuse to give in. "You can have pancakes, waffles, or cereal with a banana!"
"Cereal." she exclaims.
This makes me very happy as it's the easiest to prepare. Not only did I win the battle, but I'm getting off with as little work as possible.
"Can I pick it?" she beams!
"Of course!" I smile.
Did I say I won the battle??
Shut up ... at least she had her banana!
