Okay ... there is always something with me and my family, isn't there? We can't be normal and boring. Well, we might be boring ... but we are definitely not normal. That I can tell you with confidence.
So, it should really come as no surprise when I tell you that I have a problem. Do you want to see it?
Yeah, that's Jake. And his hair is not the problem. Well, not THIS problem anyway.
See that heating pack of sorts on his neck? Somehow he managed to sprain it (can you sprain a neck?) or something yesterday.
Wanna know how?
Of course you don't. But you should know me well enough to know that I'm going to tell you anyway. And if you even try to click that little "x" in the right hand corner of your screen, I will put a curse on you. A curse that will immediately transform your life ... into MINE!
There, that should keep you reading.
So, how Jake hurt his neck. Yeah. Adjusting his goggles. That's how he did it.
Actually I know exactly what he's going through. I've done it myself a few times. You know when you turn your neck fast, in just the right way, that pain that shoots up and then you can't move your neck? For days.
I think that's what he did.
No big deal right. The kid will just hang out on the couch and watch TV for the next couple days ... and it will pass. PIECE OF CAKE.
NOT!
We leave tomorrow for his STATE BASEBALL TOURNAMENT. In Des Moines. The one we he has been looking forward to since practice began in JANUARY.
He has cried most of today. I don't know if it's out of pain or frustration. But it doesn't really matter ... it hurts a mother's heart just the same.
What can I do to help? We did ice for 24 hours after he did it. Then on to the heating packs and Tylenol.
Any other ideas?
