I am not going to beg people for donations, and I am not going to post over and over again asking for your help ... I PROMISE!  However, I will make you aware of a new site I created to help fellow Iowans in need.

Many people lost not only their memorabilia, but their entire homes.  Furniture, clothing, toys ... everything they had.

Everything.

Just like that.

Can you imagine?

Most of us can't.

If this is you or someone you know, tell me that you need help and I'll do what I can to make your life easier during this horrible time.

It is my hope that we will come together to help those in need.  Whether you've witnessed the floods in person or are an observer from within your TV ...

you know the devastation.

It's barely comprehensible.

Come help.

Okay ... I know from my site meter that I have on average (low) 100 visitors per day.  If each one of you gave $1.00.  $1.00 to my fund, do you realize what I could do for a family right now?  Probably more than one family.

Really!

And if you wanted to support a registered family ... I am not kidding, I know you'd make their year. 

Anyway, enough ... I'm not going to go on and on ...

Thankful

Skies are sunny.
Clouds are sparse.
Forecast calls for 75 degrees today.
Kids are already begging to go outdoors.

Makes me want to reach up and grab God by the cheeks, give him a big smooch, and thank him so much for wireless Internet.

Just What I Needed

The day is beautiful and if one didn't know what was happening a few miles north and a few miles south of here, you'd think you were in heaven.  Being outside is just what all of us needed and we spent the whole morning and early afternoon playing.

Once we came inside, Molly made her way downstairs in record time.  If she got there first, she would get to watch her shows.  Now that the boys are home, that is very important.  For some reason Molly doesn't like iCarly and Drake and Josh.  Hmmm!

Emily also emerged from the backyard and said, "Mom, will you turn my shows on for me upstairs in your bedroom?"

I smiled and responded, "Molly is downstairs watching Noggin, just go down there!"

"No thanks, I need a little piece of quiet."

HA!  For some reason, that cracked me up.  And I soooo needed that right now.

Too Awesome Not To Share

The four boy scouts lost in Western Iowa was such a tragedy.  Here is a photo a friend shared of that awful and devastating tornado.

What an outpouring of support I have received from the readers of An Iowa Mom.  Man, I just can't believe it.

I have over 75 emails in my inbox from you all.  Well, 82 to be exact.  From the awesome people out there that were worried we were affected by the floods.  And while, yes, we were ... in a round about way, everything is fine here at our home and should stay that way.  Your concern warms my heart and blew me away actually.

There are about 10,703 things on my TO DO list this morning, and there is no way I will be able to respond individually to all of those who took the time to write and I hope that you are checking into the blog to see that we are fine, and ready to start helping those whose lives were devastated, get back on their feet.  And not forgetting those to the south of us who have not yet received the brunt of it yet.

I will resume regular blogging hopefully tomorrow or Wednesday ... just as soon as I take care of some things that I NEED to concentrate on before anything else.

Thanks again, to all of you!

Flood Of 2008 ...

is playing havoc on our household.  I'm not complaining by any means, as I know that thousands of people are in a much worse scenario.  I did want to let you know that our power is out more than it's on right now ... and that I will try to get Pay It Forward Friday up, but if it's not when you're reading this, then it will be as soon as I can.

We are fine.  Just without power.  It's on right now, but flickering, so it is likely to disappear again.  I guess that's my sign to go to bed and get some sleep for a change.

Fat chance.

If your area is affected by the floods, and you are able, sand-baggers are needed in a big way. I encourage you to volunteer your time in any way you can for your community.

I better hit publish before the electric goes again.  If you don't hear from me for awhile, don't worry, we've got batteries, candles and lots of pop-tarts, so we should be just fine.

All Iowa flood victims are in our thoughts and as the rain continues to fall, prayers are going out for some sunshine tomorrow.
