The following conversation took place between my darling daughters last night at dinner. Their hamburgers and hot dogs were being served to them outdoors and they were checking out what was going on in the neighborhood as they ate:
Molly: I can't believe Grant & Lezlie (our neighbors) don't have any kids.
Emily: That's okay. I bet they will.
Molly: I can't believe Derek (a neighbor) doesn't have any kids.
Emily: MOLLY! He's only 16 years old!!!!!! (actually he is 15, but that's not the point).
Molly: Yeah, well ... when I'm 16 I'm going to have kids.
Emily: Yeah well ... I just farted.
Ya know, the values we're instilling in these kids are just going to carry them so far in life, aren't they?
